Introduction To Photography (ITP)

ITP was comprised of 3 main projects:

  TASK 1

Basic Photography Principles

In the first ITP assignment, we were introduced to the 10 basic principles in photography. I had to take 10 pictures taken from around the university campus, & each picture must show ONE principle of photography. We then had to put each photo in slides and describe the picture and how it relates to the principle.

The second part of the assignment was researching and analysing photographs taken by a professional photographer, each from different categories:

1) Nature Photographer

2) Travel Photographer

3) Fashion Photographer

4) Sports Photographer

5) Photojournalist

Afterwards, for each photo we had to observe and study the type of principles and techniques that the photographer used.

In this 2nd task, as a group of 5 (me as the leader) had to choose 25 pictures we took during our fieldwork to Taman Tugu KL, and editing them using apps like Adobe Lightroom and Snapseed.

Afterwards, we had to make a magazine, with a narrative to promote Taman Tugu as well as including the edited 25 images.

  TASK 2

Photography Editing - Group

  TASK 3 - Final

Photobook journal and essay

For our final assignment in ITP, we had an individual project consisting of 3 tasks about photo journalism. This is the process of storytelling using photos as the medium, utilizing a camera to capture visual representations of a story.

Firstly, we were to come up with 3 topic proposals based on the theme: "Passions" and select the best proposal and analyse issues or anything related with it.

Then on task 2, we had to produce 20 original pictures from all the photos we took in our contact sheets to visualise the flow of our story and construct an essay regarding our topic proposal. Here, we had to include: Event, Place, Situation, People, Expressions, Emotions and Details.

Finally, in Task 3, we had an editorial project where we had to create a photobook along with the text of our narrative in the size of 4R, to convey a message to educate the readers/viewers.
